“You have to sound serious. You have to alarm people.” Voicing for a public health emergency

The email I received from the client was stark.

“In this commercial, you have to sound serious. You have to alarm people. People need to realise Covid-19 rates in Hull are critical.”

My brief was clear: this commercial HAS to work.

This is an audio blog about voicing a commercial telling people they’re facing a real and present danger to public health.

You’ll hear how I interpreted the brief, the session audio I sent to the producer and then finally the finished advertisement.

As I explain in the audio, of all the commercials I’ve ever voiced, I’ve never wanted one to be more effective than this one.
